Two Teams Design Bed Rails to Prevent Future Accidents

By now, we know Clark Jacobs’ story and the suffering he endured all too well.

What you may not know is that the incident prompted action from his fellow classmates, which may soon come to fruition.

In April, two teams of seniors presented projects that are designed to keep other students from suffering the same fate.

Knowing the college students would see metal rails as childish, the two teams created designs that were unlike anything before. They both offer storage space, which college students will view as an asset, and even contain an electrical outlet for using a laptop.

The teams are aiming to get the attention of furniture manufacturers who can turn these designs into a reality at Georgia Tech, their fraternity houses, and other schools.
